West Michigan is abundant with mature Oak Trees. Oaks (along with Maples) are a very large part of the Michigan forests. Many Grand Rapids homeowners are already aware of the Oak Wilt disease, but not many know the deadlines for cutting Oak Trees. The cut off date for cutting Oaks is April 1st, and you may start cutting them again in November. If trees must be pruned, then a protective paint layer is required to seal the wound. If the tree is to be removed, then the stump must be ground or a protective paint layer painted over the stump. Learn more about cutting oak trees in Michigan.
